50 years ago Barclay James Harvest and founder Les Holroyd started their musical journey in Oldham/Manchester. Probably the most subtle representatives of the classic rock genre came together in 1967 and have been delighting audiences with melancholy classic rock and esoteric spherical sounds ever since.

The fans soon began to compare them to the Moody Blues or Pink Floyd. The band knew early on how to use the Mellotron's effects equipment with virtuosity. From the very beginning they experimented with new forms and sounds beyond the classical rock line-up, using woodwinds, brass and strings. These delightful sound patterns and orchestral sounds became her trademark. As a logical consequence, the debut album was recorded with her own orchestra.
