DELIVERED – Democracy needs anti-fascism: Every year on 11 February, up to a thousand neo-Nazis from across Europe gather in Budapest, supported by the Hungarian state, to pay homage to Nazi collaborators and SS soldiers on ‘Honour Day’. Anti-fascists oppose this historical revisionism – but the price is high: arrests, repression and extradition.

In February 2023, the situation escalated. Two activists were arrested in Budapest, and others were arrested in Germany and France. Nine people are wanted throughout Europe. Particularly shocking: Maja T. was extradited from Germany to Hungary in a cloak-and-dagger operation, despite a temporary injunction issued by the German Federal Constitutional Court – to a country that, under Viktor Orbán's autocratic government, systematically violates the principles of the rule of law. By contrast, a court in Italy refused to extradite Gabriele M.

These incredible events will be discussed at this event. Parents and relatives are outraged, are campaigning against extradition and are calling for Maja T.'s return.

In addition the following questions will be discussed by the politician Martin Schirdewan, the politician and activist Carola Rackete, lawyers and journalists:

Why do state authorities and courts in Germany want to and are able to undermine decisions of the Federal Constitutional Court by simply creating facts? Why are relatives of those affected subjected to disproportionate repression during house searches?

And finally: What can we do to prevent extraditions and ensure that the rule of law is upheld?
