Awakening and reforms - pioneers of modern social work in Prenzlauer Berg during the Weimar Republic
The social hardship of large parts of the population due to the consequences of the First World War and inflation hit children and young people particularly hard. Many remained without education and employment.
Under the leadership of Walter Friedländer, committed employees of the newly founded Prenzlauer Berg Youth Welfare Office implemented numerous reforms for the youth. Their work of supra-regional appeal is largely unknown today.
- The exhibition focuses for the first time on the key players.
- Excursuses to the historical caesura of 1933, 1945 and 1990 complement the perspective of child and youth welfare up to the present.
