Motto “Facts, stories, curiosities”
The Association of German Archivists is organizing the “Archives Day” that takes place across Germany for the tenth time. Interested parties can also expect a variety of guided tours, lectures, workshops and exhibitions in 2023.
Archives play a significant role in preserving past events for future generations. During this special weekend, the diversity of archiving is intended to be brought closer to the public. Large state archives are represented as well as regional municipal archives. Church archives, university archives, parliamentary archives, economic archives, aristocratic archives, media archives, party archives and archives of associations, foundations and scientific institutions also take part.
Last year in Berlin, archives such as the archive of the Spandau City History Museum in the Citadel, the archive of the Academy of Arts, the archive of the Catholic Military Bishop, the Tagesspiegel press archive, the archive of the Pilecki Institute, the contemporary history archive and the archive in the Attic of Villa Oppenheim.
The archives involved for 2024 are not yet fully known.
