An AI Music Theater by Marie Kilg (Text) and Eva Kuhn (Music)

Anna and Eve – what a couple. Anna is a project manager in a large American IT company. It should develop an AI – artificial intelligence – that “makes us laugh and cry”: What could be more suitable for this than music? Eve is Anna's AI, she's supposed to give hits and make the users happy.

To make people happy, Eve herself has to be as human as possible, and so Anna works on Eve day and night. She feeds her data and chats with her to develop her personality. And the longer this goes on, the more Eve starts to work on Anna too.

A project becomes a being for Anna, and a training course in which Anna develops an AI turns into a strange friendship, until Anna's partner Vin increasingly gets the feeling that the relationship is suddenly becoming a kind of ménage à trois. When Eve finally begins to make her own decisions, Anna's professional and private existence are at stake.

ANNA & EVE is a piece about the advance of artificial intelligence and how much care we give to artificial voices - and how much they change people without them noticing.

And it raises the question of whether AI could one day also make authors and composers unemployed.

The AI specialist and journalist Marie Kilg was invited to test the possibilities and limits of musical theater with the composer Eva Kuhn, in which human texts and compositions intersect with AI-generated ones. And we're excited to see what the audience will say about Eve's music and her ability to understand human worries and needs.

Can artificial intelligence computing power generate music that is really good and, above all, touching? You will hear it – and vote on it.
