interactive sound installation by Alejandra Alarcón Bautista
Because of the war and energy shortages, Germany has decided to increase coal imports from Colombia to improve its energy supply. El Cerrejón is the largest open pit coal mine in South America, in Colombia, where all the coal for Germany is mined.
The mining of this resource has not only driven people off their land, but also decimated rivers and water sources in one of the country's driest regions. What is the real price of industrial progress in Germany?
Dreaming of Water is a small interactive sound installation made of carbon bricks, connected to a midi sound system. As the artist and audience interact with the rocks, various water sounds play out, creating a soundscape that references the rivers and natural resources that are now being destroyed by coal mining. A confrontation to discuss it.
