The annually changing retrospective is also dedicated to the topic "Berlin in Film" in 2019. After the jubilee year 2014, Achtung Berlin presents the continuation of the Berlin Film Retrospective, which spans the last 25 years. Against the background of a permanently changing city, Berlin has changed fundamentally over the past two decades and reinvented itself over and over again. Rounding out the film program through workshops, film talks and parties until sunrise in trendy Berlin clubs.
The 15th year of achtung berlin - new berlin film award will be opened on April 10, 2019 at Kino International with the comedy KIM HAS A PENIS by director Philipp Eichholtz with Martina Schöne-Radunski and Christian Ehrich in the leading roles.
Another highlight of this year's festival is the retrospective curated by Regina Kräh: under the title Berlin Acht Neu (n) Null she shows selected feature films from East and West Berlin, which - put together in film pairs - reflect the "feeling of life" in the divided and reunited city of the 80s and 90s. In the film-historical synopsis, areas of friction are created that strike a socio-cultural arc into the Berlin today.
Achtung berlin - new berlin film award honors the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall with this retrospective.
The retrospective Berlin Acht neu (n) Null takes place in the Bundesplatz cinema and Brotfabrik Kino, in cooperation with the DEFA Foundation and the Deutsche Kinemathek - Museum for Film and Television, supported by the Kulturbeirat Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf and the district office Pankow FB Art and Culture.
Under the motto achtung berlin goes Beeskow, the festival will once again be present at the Schukurama cinema in Beeskow in Brandenburg - with the kind support of the city of Beeskow. As part of the achtung berlin industry days, the festival will be presenting acclaimed trade visitors, among other things, the Berlin Series, which will give insights into new series fabrics in screenings, pitching, panels and keynote speeches.
