Green and environmentally friendly

Green roofs, solar panels and private vegetable gardens: More and more Berlin hotels are showing a sense of responsibility and are committed to environmental and climate protection. The careful use of resources is now standard practice in these hotels. This includes using green electricity, avoiding waste and plastic, recycling and offering regional organic products. In addition, some Berlin hotels inspire with innovative, sustainable concepts and also take responsibility for their immediate surroundings through their commitment to various social projects. You can stay in these Berlin hotels with a clear conscience - and on our pages on Sustainable Berlin with many Green Berlin tips for eco-friends also help you to minimise your carbon footprint on your trip to Berlin.

A tree spreads its arms to welcome you as soon as you check in. However, the MOA not only adorns itself with this beautiful symbol of sustainability, but also saves real trees. The hotel takes care of the neighbouring city trees when they suffer from drought and the falling water table. The MOA donates around 100 litres of water per tree to nourish the deep-lying roots.

Other measures for greater sustainability include the use of products made from recycled materials and recyclable products, the strengthening of local supply chains and the selection of sustainable and environmentally friendly products - both in the area of food as well as cleaning products, furniture and much more.

Gastronomy

The MOA focusses on seasonal and local produce both at the breakfast buffet and in its à la carte offerings. For example, local wines or artisan baked goods from the bakery in the neighbourhood.

The menu includes a selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes, which are clearly marked as such on the menu.

As the largest conference and congress hotel in Europe, the Estrel sets a positive example and makes a real difference with its comprehensive sustainability strategy. Not only business travellers, but also private travellers spend pleasant days in the family-run hotel of superlatives. Ideally located on the Ringbahn, the Estrel is a perfect starting point for sightseeing. The hotel's own show programme and wellness area guarantee an unforgettable stay.

If you think that sustainability is not compatible with a hotel of this size, you are mistaken. An own photovoltaic system on the roof of the hotel, 100% green electricity, extensive green roofs, a reusable stage construction system and its own greenhouse for vegetables and herbs are just some of the measures that make the Estrel a progressive eco-hotel.

Gastronomy

The Estrel reduces food waste by cooperating with non-profit organisations in the "Estrel Share" initiative. Employees also benefit from leftover food. A modern composting plant is currently being tested. The Estrel attaches great importance to regional suppliers and is continuously increasing its range of meat-free dishes.

The energy at Hotel Berlin, Berlin comes from 100% renewable sources. A large proportion of the electricity used is generated by the hotel's own photovoltaic system. In addition, the hotel has taken a variety of measures to avoid waste and better separate waste. As part of WirBerlin's CleanUp initiative, cleaning up the neighbourhood is also high on the agenda.

The question of how to get from A to B is easily answered: the hotel offers a bike rental service. Thanks to its central location near the gigantic green Tiergarten, it is the perfect starting point for a bike tour through the centre

Gastronomy

Hotel Berlin, Berlin has an innovative app model that enables guests to keep track of the CO2 emissions caused by food - as well as other aspects of the hotel. The dishes on menus are labelled with codes so that it is transparent how much CO2 they cause. There is also a selection of meat-free alternatives, whose better carbon footprint is shown in the app.
In addition, the hotel works with a food waste AI that can weigh and record how much is thrown away. The AI does this not only quantitatively by weighing the amount thrown away, but also qualitatively by analysing the food waste using a photographic process. Even breakfast coffee is recycled at Hotel Berlin, Berlin - the coffee grounds are used to make the upcycling soap "Scrubbish".

At the Seminaris CampusHotel Berlin you stay overnight, surrounded by nature and fresh air, in Berlin's green Dahlem district. From here you are quickly in the Grunewald, but also the Botanical Garden or the Domäne Dahlem estate can be reached on foot in a few minutes. Environmental and climate protection are part of the corporate concept at Seminaris and so the avoidance of plastic is a matter of course. Here you can enjoy mainly regional products, drinks such as fresh oat milk and lemonades are produced in-house.

Gastronomy

As part of its comprehensive sustainability strategy, the Seminaris Campus Hotel Berlin is taking a strong stand against food waste - with the so-called "Veggie Rebels". They serve crooked cucumbers, intertwined carrots or misshapen potatoes - vegetables that do not meet the strict EU standards for appearance due to their unusual shape and are therefore usually not sold. In collaboration with the Berlin organic retailer Querfeld Seminaris saves this precious food from going to waste.

The Adina Hotel Berlin Checkpoint Charlie also runs the compost on the hotel roof project. Suitable food waste is composted in a system on the roof and then used as fertiliser for the green roof and courtyard. Attention was paid to biodiversity-promoting planting - with plants such as seabuckthorn, redcurrants or lavender heather. There is also an insect hotel for the tiny guests. All Adina Hotels in Berlin only provide their human guests with compostable coffee capsules

The DoubleTree offers modern, comfortable rooms with high-quality furnishings and an elegant design. With a modern wellness area and fitness studio, the hotel, which is centrally located on Kurfürstendamm, ensures that the relaxation factor is not neglected. There are solar panels on the roof of the hotel, and the DoubleTree also offers e-charging points for electric vehicles. The bee colony on the roof of the hotel contributes to the promotion of local biodiversity.

 Gastronomy

The DoubleTree focuses on entirely sustainable gastronomy, which is characterised by innovation and creativity. In the kitchen, the focus is on organic products - and not just selectively, but across the entire range. Berlin's first certified 100% organic breakfast buffet offers guests a variety of high-quality, regional ingredients that are processed with respect for nature.

The zero-waste approach of the restaurant is an important cornerstone. Waste is reduced by using parts of the food that would normally be thrown away, such as cauliflower leaves or potato peelings. This results in creative dishes such as the main course "Cauliflower 360 degrees".
