From the centrally located Circus Hotel & Circus Hostel you can easily discover Berlin on foot. You can walk to the Museum Island, Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt in just a few minutes. For longer exploration tours, rental bikes are available. The hotel's own small combined heat and power plant generates some of its own electricity, and clay-based insulation ensures that the building's air conditioning is environmentally friendly. The sustainability concept at The Circus Hotel also includes the social component. As a guest, you are seen as part of the community - and you will find plenty of opportunities to interact with staff and other guests in the lounge, the library or the green Courtyard. Sustainability has been an important topic for the Swedish hotel group Scandic since 1993 and was taken into account right from the start when the hotel opened at Potsdamer Platz in 2010. This is visible in the environmentally friendly interior design, which has a bright and inviting Scandinavian feel. The Scandic Berlin am Potsdamer Platz received the Gold Certificate of the German Sustainable Building Council for its overall concept. Social commitment, fair trade coffee, local products and three beehives on the hotel's roof complement the eco concept. The Scandic Berlin am Potsdamer Platz is socially committed through its cooperation with a workshop for the disabled and as a sponsor of the Scandic ID League in cooperation with the Berlin Disabled Sports Association.

The goal of a&o HOSTELS is to be climate neutral by 2025. And in fact, many small measures already add up to a big whole. Thanks to energy efficiency, the elimination of plastic, recycling, and water-saving shower heads and flushes, CO2 emissions per overnight stay are 5.9 kilograms. According to a survey by the DEHOGA regional associations, the average is currently still between 16.9 and 47.6 kilograms of CO2 emissions per overnight stay. Guests at the hostel can even make a small contribution themselves, bringing their own coffee mug or choosing vegan and vegetarian menu options instead of meat.

This ranges from correct waste separation to regional purchasing and a veggie day in the staff restaurant to supporting local initiatives, such as the Berlin city beekeepers. For its commitment, the Rocco Forte Hotel in Berlin has now received the seal of approval "Certified Sustainability 2022" from the German Institute for Sustainability & Economics.

The hotel is also an official partner of the Greentech Festival in Berlin.
