Public Tour (in German)
This guided tour introduces the permanent exhibition, focusing on the historical period gallery ‘After 1945’. An exploration of the museum building’s iconic architecture forms part of the tour.
An approximately 40-metre-long walkway runs through the ‘After 1945’ period gallery as a space-defining element. Restitution and ‘reparation’, the triangular relationship between Germany, Israel and Jewish people in Germany, as well as the waves of Jewish immigration to and emigration from Germany, will be covered, as will Russian-speaking immigration from 1990 onwards.
In a closing chorus, Jewish people speak on 21 screens about their Jewish identity in Germany. The images and original sound recordings come together to form a polyphonic final chord of Jewish life today.
