Giacomo Puccini
Puccini's melodrama in three acts deals with power, passion and betrayal.
Set in Rome in the early 1800s, the opera paints an intense picture of political and personal conflicts in which love and loyalty are put to a deadly test.
Hermanis' production relocates the action to the time when the opera was written, around 1900, while the stage uses a graphic novel to project the historical locations onto monumental architecture, reinforcing the psychological intensity of the characters.
