13.09.2025 at 19:15: 100th anniversary of the novel Metropolis - Fritz Lang's silent film classic at the ICC Berlin

Exactly a century ago, Thea von Harbou's novel "Metropolis" was published, which Fritz Lang turned into a silent film in 1927. The classic was the first film to be included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2001. The film screening will bring two icons together in Hall 1 of the ICC on Saturday evening: a visionary silent film classic meets a monumental architectural icon.

The full-length version of Metropolis from 2010, restored after the sensational discovery, will be shown. The combination of image, sound and space creates an atmosphere that brings the zeitgeist of Metropolis and the ICC's speculation about the future back to life.

The film screening will take place on Saturday evening in Hall 1 of the ICC Berlin. The film lasts around 150 minutes. Seating is free, capacity is limited. The film is suitable for all age groups.

It is a film from the collection of the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Murnau-Stiftung in Wiesbaden.
