Privatclub
Young music culture on Skalitzer Straße
Between Schlesisches Tor and Görlitzer Park, the young music scene comes together at the Privatclub – with passion, style and Berlin cool.
Housed in the basement of an old post office building, the entrance to the Privatclub is easy to miss. Only a glowing ‘P’ above a brick door points the way directly from Skalitzer Straße into one of the city’s most promising concert venues. The Privatclub hosts concerts and club nights, and provides a stage for up-and-coming bands that are otherwise only seen on small festival stages.
Concert hall with a nightclub atmosphere
The Privatclub combines the charming atmosphere of a Berlin concert hall with the interior design of an elegant nightclub. And with this combination, it manages to live up to its name. The regular concert evenings are known for the intimate interaction between artists and the audience – often over a post-concert drink at the bar or in the cosy armchairs of the adjoining smoking room.
Young music culture from around the world
The Privatclub’s programme aptly reflects Berlin’s musical diversity. Indie rock and pop, soul, hip-hop and electronic sounds are complemented by regular live concerts, release parties and DJ nights. During the week, concerts are usually on the programme – often featuring young, up-and-coming bands from Berlin and around the world. At the weekend, club culture takes over with a variety of party series and DJ sets.
Our tips
- The Privatclub is the perfect place to catch Berlin’s best newcomers live – such as Trustfundbabes, Rose Gray or Emilíana – before they go on to fill the city’s major venues.
- The Privatclub is known for its high-energy indie, rock and alternative concerts, but also for its funk and soul nights – here, people don’t just listen, they dance too!
- After the concert, you’re right in the thick of it: bars, late-night shops and street food spots await around Schlesisches Tor and Görlitzer Park.
