The ‘Berlin Insights: Politics, History, and the Road to Freedom’ guided tour on 11 November 2026 focuses on Berlin’s political history. The tour takes in the government district – from the Brandenburg Gate via the Reichstag to the Federal Chancellery.

The tour explores Berlin’s development into Germany’s political centre and the significance of the 1991 decision to make Berlin the seat of government and parliament following reunification. It highlights the political, architectural and historical changes in the parliamentary district and their importance for democracy and German unity.

Particular emphasis is placed on former Chancellor Helmut Kohl and his role in German reunification, as well as in establishing Berlin as the new political capital. Along the River Spree, key buildings and institutions are introduced and their architectural and historical significance explained.
