The book is an anarchist manifesto and a literary self-inquiry, brimming with humour, surreal moments and radical honesty.
Else Buschheuer will be presenting her new novel *ex@frau* and the brand-new audiobook adaptation. There will be a reading, but the rhythms of the novel will also be brought to life directly on stage. As the plot unfolds against the backdrop of international milongas in the tango scene, Else Buschheuer and Moritz Hering will dance to the tango composed especially for ‘ex@frau’ by Ana Sofia Stamponis – a seamless transition from the written word to physical performance.
Else Buschheuer (Els Busch for short), born in 1965 in Eilenburg near Leipzig, is a writer, dementia carer and queer tango activist. Buschheuer has lived in Berlin since 1984; she worked as an essayist and reporter for 30 years and presented programmes including ProSieben Wetter, Kulturweltspiegel, Riverboat and Kino Royal. Buschheuer’s first novel, *Ruf!Mich! An!*, was a bestseller; her second, *Masserberg*, was adapted for television in 2013. For the past 10 years, Buschheuer has been exploring the topic of gender and has written several essays on the subject, including for *SZ Magazin*; in 2019, she received the ‘Best Essay’ Reporter Award for *Kriegerin*. *Ex@Frau* is Buschheuer’s sixth novel.
Moritz Hering has found his great passion in Argentine tango: for just under two years, he has been delving ever deeper into this multifaceted dance – and now passes on his knowledge and enthusiasm as a dance teacher. For him, the tango is more than just moving to music: it is an encounter, an expression and a constant dialogue between two people. As a former riding instructor and drag queen, he is familiar with body awareness, balance, stage presence and the queer scene.
