Lecture and Discussion

The links between the Nazi policies of persecution and extermination and scientific collections were long overlooked.


The Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Brain Research in Berlin-Buch and the German Research Institute for Psychiatry in Munich took advantage of the opportunity afforded by the Nazi regime to acquire thousands of brain specimens for research purposes. The collections established at that time were transferred to the Max Planck Institutes for Brain Research and for Psychiatry after the end of the war.
