As this double anniversary draws to a close, the Sophiensæle look back on their exploration of 120 years of the theatre’s history and 30 years of independent theatre: what stories are told, what is missing, what connects them – and what remains unseen?

From Yiddish theatre through communist and anarchist movements, anti-colonial resistance and Nazi forced labour to experiences of life in the GDR and migration, the event explores how a theatre venue can commemorate the past in a spirit of solidarity, with a multitude of voices and contradictions – and what repercussions this still has today.

  • Guests and the audience are invited to join in the discussion over soup, bread and drinks.
