Sunny isn't Alone: Filmmakers and Their Networks

Frank Beyer, Manfred Krug and Konrad Wolf: three figures whose work shaped cinema in both East and West.

The writer Jurek Becker also ranks among the key figures in cinematic storytelling in the second half of the 20th century. He authored novels adapted for films as well as screenplays. The four filmmakers were professionally linked through various projects, such as *Professor Mamlock* and *Jakob the Liar*; they were united by their pursuit of artistic freedom.

The Library of the Academy of Arts is presenting a selection of books from the posthumous private collections of these artists and offering a glimpse into the library’s storage rooms. The books from the collections of Becker, Beyer, Krug and Wolf often refer to one another: dedications reveal collegial and friendly contacts and networks.
