The Female Filmmakers Festival Berlin (FFFB) returns to Berlin’s historic Moviemento cinema for its 8th edition, once again presenting an international selection of exceptional films by female and non-binary filmmakers from around the world.

Over the course of five festival days, visitors can discover feature-length films, six curated short film programmes, documentaries, experimental films, music videos, as well as dance and fashion films from more than 24 countries.

From surreal explorations of female identity and queer-feminist thrillers to climate activism, migration, resistance, ageing and desire, the 2026 programme showcases the diversity of perspectives through which female and non-binary filmmakers are shaping contemporary cinema.

Alongside the film screenings, the FFFB is once again expanding its programme this year with various industry and community side events.

These include ‘The Power of Sound: Women Shaping Stories Through Film’, a panel featuring women who work professionally in film sound; the return of the popular Speed Networking event in collaboration with WIFT Germany; and a ‘Women Behind the Lens’ panel with experienced female cinematographers who will offer an insight into their work.

Numerous filmmakers and film crews are travelling to Berlin to present their work in person.

Following many of the screenings, Q&As with the filmmakers in attendance will take place throughout the festival week.

All films are shown in their original language with English subtitles.

Wednesday, 7 October

The FFFB 2026 opens at 7.00 pm with the German premiere of *By Design* by

filmmaker Amanda Kramer (Canada).

Thursday, 8 October

This year’s ‘ToughThursday’ gets underway at 5.00 pm with the European premiere of Gloria Mercer’s *A Safe Distance* (Canada), a queer-feminist psychological thriller that premiered at SXSW.

Friday, 9 October

The FFFB’s ‘Full of Life’ Friday begins at the cinema at 7.00 pm with the German premiere of *Life Is (La Vida es)* by Mexican filmmaker Lorena

Saturday, 10 October

Saturday begins at 5.00 pm with the festival’s annual Green Film programme, ‘No Planet B’.

Sunday, 11 October

The final day of the festival begins at 5.00 pm with ‘Next Level’, a collection of films in which reality increasingly spirals out of control.

Beyond the Screen

The FFFB has always been about more than just watching films together.

The festival creates spaces where filmmakers, audiences and industry representatives can come together, exchange knowledge and forge new creative connections.
