21st Berlin Porn Film Festival

For over two decades, the PFFB has stood for sex-positive, feminist, and queer cinema—with a program that continually challenges sexual norms, patriarchal structures, and censorship—one bold, boundary-pushing film after another.

The festival continues to grow: In addition to the long-standing venues Moviemento, Babylon Kreuzberg, and Colosseum, a fourth venue is joining the lineup this year—Kino Central in Mitte, located in the courtyard of Haus Schwarzenberg.

Even before the official start of the festival, there will be a preview: On October 19, MonGay Foreplay at Kino International will kick off the festival week—with a curated selection of queer films from this year’s program and a brief introduction that will leave you wanting more. The 21st Berlin Porn Film Festival opens on October 20 at 8:00 p.m. at the Colosseum with Ratchapoom Boonbunchachoke’s delightfully offbeat “A Useful Ghost”—the story of a man whose deceased wife finds refuge as a ghost inside his vacuum cleaner and refuses to let it ruin their marriage. A biting, witty satire about class, love, sex, and grief, winner of the Semaine de la Critique award at Cannes. Anyone attending the film can get appropriately raunchy right afterward at the opening party in the Colosseum foyer—party starts at 10:00 p.m., free admission.

To close the festival: “Fucking Different Generations,” we’re screening the latest installment in Kristian Petersen’s long-running “Fucking Different” series, which for two decades has brought together queer filmmakers across generational and experiential boundaries to break down stereotypes from the inside out. This episode brings queer people from different generations into conversation—and dismantles the prejudices they hold about one another. The director and many of the protagonists will be on hand at the theater.

AIF: October 20–21

New this year: S*MAC – Sex, Media, Arts & Culture opens its doors on October 23 and 24 at TAK, Theater Aufbau Kreuzberg. As a new two-day format, S*MAC brings together sex workers, sex educators, intimacy experts, artists, creatives, and community organizers—for two days filled with exchange, education, and creative exploration: panel discussions, workshops, lectures, and readings, performances, as well as collaborations with magazines, institutions, and academia, plus a showroom. The focus is on the question of how sex and sexuality shape the way we connect, feel, express ourselves, and navigate the world. Open to anyone who’s curious—no specialized background required.
