Diana Salles

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1996, artist Diana Salles explores the agonizing feeling of having “murdered” her former self—an experience many transgender people go through when they leave their assigned gender behind.

In her solo debut, Diana Salles combines aerial acrobatics with dance and song to create a spectacular physical theater performance, inviting the audience to reflect on the physical and emotional strength required to follow the call of one’s true self.

Diana Salles has already received several awards for her performances, including the bronze medal at the 2017 Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain, the Silver Prize and the People’s Choice Prize at the 2019 Ibero-American Circus Festival (FIRCO), and the 2023 Best of Fringe – International Bursary Award from the Amsterdam Fringe Festival.
