Electric Lights – Women in Electronic Music (VOL.4)

A fascination with the cosmos, the big questions about origins and the future, and a sense of wonder at infinity, space, and time create an experience that connects us all. Electric Lights brings all these aspects together in a new format, highlighting the special connection between space exploration, electronic music, and photography that lies in the intensive use of technology.

Photographer and DJ Katja Ruge, along with the female musicians she has portrayed, mix electronic music live in the planetarium dome, accompanied by galactic 360° projections and visuals.

In a cosmic atmosphere, they tell unique musical stories—away from the club scene, yet always with an eye toward contemporary electronic music. You can expect a mix ranging from techno and electro to new wave, Italo disco, and Krautrock, all the way to ambient, dark disco, and retro-futuristic ’80s sounds.

Lady Starlight, born Colleen Martin in 1975, has carved out a unique path in the music world by blending techno with rock and performance art. Known for her raw, hardware-based live shows, she first gained wider recognition while touring with Lady Gaga, during which she was able to introduce a broader audience to the depth and diversity of techno culture.

Her tireless pursuit of musical innovation led to highly acclaimed releases on renowned labels such as Figure, Stroboscopic Artefacts, Ostgut Ton, and Tresor, establishing her as a key figure in the evolution of techno. These releases also highlight her ability to create tracks that are not only powerful but also resonate deeply beyond the techno community. Her deep-rooted passion for connecting seemingly contrasting musical worlds has also led her to explore the genres of heavy metal and progressive rock.

Lady Starlight’s versatility was also evident in her sharing the stage with legends such as Judas Priest and Iron Maiden.
