Rachmaninoff also features on her debut program at the Pierre Boulez Saal: in the first half, the young pianist pairs the composer’s Études-tableaux and Second Piano Sonata with equally demanding études by Unsuk Chin and Karen Tanaka.
Chick Corea’s poetic Children’s Songs, which Chen combines with her own improvisations, provide a moment of calm during the evening.
