Piano Works by Chin, Corea, Tanaka, and Rachmaninoff
With her brilliant interpretation of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 4, Junyan Chen won second prize at the prestigious Leeds Piano Competition in 2024.
Rachmaninoff also features on her debut program at the Pierre Boulez Saal: in the first half, the young pianist pairs the composer’s Études-tableaux and Piano Sonata No. 2 with equally demanding études by Unsuk Chin and Karen Tanaka.
Chick Corea’s poetic *Children’s Songs*, which Chen interweaves with her own improvisations, provide a moment of calm during the evening.
