Opening of the nowHERE Festival featuring the Konzerthausorchester Berlin & Vimbayi Kaziboni

“An accelerator of sound particles, a disintegrator of sound masses, a synthesizer that envelops the audience in sound and music and creates a sense of physical closeness.”

This is how Iannis Xenakis describes his composition “Terretektorh,” for which the 88 musicians of the Konzerthaus Orchestra are spread out among the audience. This spectacular and rarely performed work is the grand finale of the opening concert, in which the sound of the Konzerthaus Orchestra can be experienced in a wide variety of ways.

Warm string sounds invite you to sink into the music, chamber music by the wind players in the darkened Small Hall invites you to dream, and percussive beats in the Werner Otto Hall invite you to move.

Before the concert, a workshop will introduce the practice of “Deep Listening.” The practice developed by composer and

musicologist Pauline Oliveros promotes conscious listening and connection with the acoustic environment.
