Qosh yulı translates to “The Path of the Birds” (the Bashkir name for the Milky Way). According to legend, this path was formed from crane feathers left behind for straggling, weak, or young birds so that they would not stray from the path. In many places, birds are considered earthly incarnations of ancestral spirits, which is why it is not surprising that so many songs are dedicated to them. Even though these songs may seem to some like mere beautiful “exotic” feathers, they were left behind for a clear reason: to provide guidance to younger generations.
- The listening session will be recorded and will be available to stream on Refuge Radio afterward.
