Using examples from religious texts and modern conflicts within Jewish communities, participants on the tour will explore, among other topics, the history of queerness in Judaism.

In doing so, they also examine the lives of queer Jews, such as the resistance fighter Herbert Budzidzslawski and the social worker Hannah Karminski. Both lived, loved, and fought very close to our building.

The tour takes you through the Neue Synagoge Berlin and the surrounding area in Spandauer Vorstadt, where the focus is not only on the traditional role of women in Judaism but also on Jewish women like Regina Jonas. As the first female rabbi in world history, Regina Jonas not only carved out new spheres of action but also broke down existing barriers.
