The Blankenfelde estate in the north of Berlin
As part of a collaborative project between the Museum Pankow and the StadtGut Blankenfelde e. V. association, an exhibition on the development of the village of Blankenfelde and its immediate surroundings on what is now the northern city limits of Berlin was created.

The village of Blankenfelde still lies unspoiled amid meadows, fields, and woods on the northern border of the Pankow district.
Where Berliners seeking recreation now walk, cycle, and ride horses, sewage fields and orchards, sanatoriums and cattle barns, prison camps and border fortifications, garbage dumps and construction debris landfills once arose and disappeared.
The exhibition documents the eventful history of the Blankenfelde estate and, at the same time, offers insights into Berlin’s urban history.
The new exhibition section describes the changes in the landscape and identifies both visible and less immediately apparent factors influencing the ongoing transformation of the landscape. In addition, key players in landscape conservation in Blankenfelde are presented as examples.
- With the Barnim Nature Park, a third partner was secured for the exhibition project.
