Their sound, somewhere between shoegaze, dream pop, and psychedelic electronica, defies quick categorization and derives its unique power precisely from this.
At the center is the voice of Hiroyasu Takahashi, which never pushes itself to the forefront but instead blends into the tapestry of guitars, synthesizers, and rhythm.
Together with Tomasong (synthesizer) and Taiki Matsuura (drums), he creates sonic spaces that are both precisely constructed and open enough to lose oneself in.
By the time “Location” (2019) was released, it had become clear that this band is not working for the moment, but for a long-term refinement of their sound. So it is only logical that this aesthetic resonates far beyond Japan: an extensive tour through seven cities followed, with sold-out shows and an audience that intuitively understands this music.
In the years that followed, their presence grew to span all of Asia—from Taiwan to Thailand to South Korea.
With “Afterglow” (2022) and “Diffusion of Responsibility” (2023), the sound was fine-tuned even further. Electronic layers intertwine, and melodies feel like distant memories that only gradually come into focus.
The major 2023/24 Asian tour, featuring 17 shows in 16 cities, was less a triumph than a natural progression: a band that steadily expands its reach without losing its way. It is especially on stage that it becomes clear how much this music is designed for immersion. The concerts are not a sequence of songs, but a cohesive dramaturgy. Lighting, volume, repetition—everything is geared toward putting the audience into a state where time and space momentarily lose their contours.
Following “Pathway” (2024), She Her Her Hers unveiled another layer of their sonic universe with “Fibril” last year, with which they are now also embarking on a UK and European tour.
As part of this tour, the band will also play three concerts in Germany this fall, including one on September 19 in Berlin at Neue Zukunft.
