In doing so, they explore the intertwining of destruction and regeneration and ask how these can embody both collapse and the potential for renewal—not as opposites, but as interdependent forces. Asya and Belmon are interested in destruction itself as an actualization of anger and empowerment in positions of oppression, as well as a space of loss and mourning. In their attempt to capture this moment of complete destruction, they ask themselves: What is the difference between destruction and deconstruction, and how do they relate to violence? How much violence is involved in bringing things to an end?
In 2026, the “neworks” series continues under the motto CONTINUING THE WORK. It aims to give artists the opportunity to continue research processes they have begun, develop them into a full-length performance, and present them at the ada Studio.
