Live Cinema Tribute Performance Honoring Lotte Reiniger, Pioneer of Animated Film

One hundred years ago, Lotte Reiniger made film history: with *The Adventures of Prince Achmed*, she created the first feature-length animated film—a masterpiece of paper cutouts and imagination.

To mark the 100th anniversary of the premiere, Katrin Rothe and Rike Reiniger present a lecture performance that brings Reiniger’s life and art back into the spotlight.

On stage, projections, paper-cut animations, and documentary scenes create a fascinating blend of theater, live cinema, and puppetry.

The performance is accompanied by improvisations in the style of 1920s film scores by jazz musician Nik Phelps, who has previously performed with greats such as Tom Waits and Frank Zappa.
