Jeanne Mammen is one of Berlin’s most famous painters and graphic artists. When she and her sister Mimi received their first graphic design commissions in 1920, they rented a 55-square-meter studio in the side wing of a Wilhelminian-style building at Ku’damm 29. For Jeanne Mammen, it remained her home until her death in April 1976. Since then, the living and working spaces have been preserved largely as they were back then.
During a guided tour with an expert, you will have the opportunity to explore this authentic site, gain insight into the artist and person Jeanne Mammen, and learn a great deal about her era. This makes it clear how this extraordinary woman held her own in the 1920s, during the Nazi era, during the Berlin Blockade, and in the divided city.
