Panel discussion on the Day of Democracy History

The focus of the Day on the History of Democracy is on two pivotal dates in German history: March 18, 1848, in Berlin, and March 18, 1990, the day the first free elections to the People's Chamber took place in the GDR. Both events represent historical moments in which political participation unexpectedly emerged publicly and had a tangible impact.

The event explores the connection between revolution and democracy. How did protest become lived politics? And what impulses can these events offer for our society today?
