Immersive dance performance about boundaries, bodies and control systems
Urgency is an immersive, site-specific performance that explores boundaries, conflicts and the traces of political systems in the body.
The piece moves between contemporary dance, performance art and elements of classical ballet, including the unusual use of pointe work, transforming the performance space into a living choreography in which the audience actively participates rather than viewing the work from a distance.
Urgency was created in a multidisciplinary collaboration between choreographers, visual artists, musicians and the fashion label Haderlump Atelier Berlin, combining live dance, real-time projection mapping by Antidote.psd and a politically charged soundscape mixed by DJ and producer Mor Elian, presented via a 360° d&b audiotechnik Spatial Sound System.
The project is produced by Leonis Works, the creative agency of Renato De Leon (formerly DANCÆ).
- Venue: Haus Der Visionäre
Address: Eichenstraße 4A, 12435 Berlin - Dates: 2 and 3 April 2026, two performances each day: 7:15 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
- Duration: 1 hour 10 minutes
The piece explores how bodies store pressure, how identity is shaped by belonging and exclusion, and how invisible forces influence how we move, relate to each other and exist.
Developed by artists whose practice is shaped by experiences of conflict – including references to Mexican-American border conflicts – the work shows how power structures and social systems leave their mark on the body and allow movement to become an expression of lived experience.
Conceived as an interactive experience, the performance unfolds throughout the entire space rather than on a single stage. The performers move through and around the audience, activating the entire environment and transforming the venue itself into part of the choreography. The audience is not positioned as distant observers, but as witnesses within the world of the piece, while the dancers move through the space in real time. This site-specific approach makes it clear that boundaries and systems are not abstract concepts, but lived realities that directly affect us.
The piece combines live dance, motion tracking, projections and a politically charged soundscape in a 360-degree environment, presented via a spatial sound system from d&b audiotechnik that surrounds the audience from all directions.
Antidote.psd's real-time mapping captures the dancers' movements and translates them into projected visuals, revealing emotional tensions and inner states. The projections function not merely as a backdrop, but as an integral part of the choreography, revealing patterns of control, restriction and liberation.
The audience experiences the body both as a human presence and as a visual data form, and thus the tension between lived experience and the systems that attempt to define or monitor it.
