A summer of art: FRENCH SUMMER 2026 in Berlin

March to September 2026

Paris has never been so close: the Nationalgalerie is bringing French flair to the city for a summer and showing breathtaking exhibitions in its famous buildings:

From March, see BRANCUSI in the glass light hall of the Neue Nationalgalerie - fresh from the Centre Pompidou: more than 150 works by the sculptor, who is one of the most important of the 20th century, and his famous Parisian studio will be on display. In May, you can then see around 100 of the most important and best-known Impressionist paintings on Museum Island: the exhibition CASSIRER AND THE BREAKTHROUGH OF IMPRESSIONISM honours the greatest art dealer of his time and shows not only major works by Monet, Degas, Cézanne and many more, but also treasures of Classical Modernism. 22 May to 27 September, Alte Nationalgalerie

Berlin Cathedral 2026: The Hohenzollern Crypt reopens

Exciting: the Hohenzollern crypt in Berlin Cathedral, one of the most important and largest dynastic burial chambers in Europe, which contains 91 unique coffins and magnificent sarcophagi, will be accessible again at the beginning of next year: expanded and with a new digital concept. In the course of six years of extensive restoration work, interesting new details about the rulers buried there were discovered.

Great event on 15 January 2026 in the Uber Arena: When the Orlando Magic meet the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA Berlin Game 2026, the arena will be shaking! It's the NBA's first regular season game in Germany.

And from 4 to 13 September, the Uber Arena and the Max-Schmeling-Halle will host the Women's Basketball World Championship: the FIBA Womens Basketball World Cup 2026, this year under the motto Time for HER Game.

Museum Island is celebrating its fifth anniversary and the year 2027 is undoubtedly the highlight: the Pergamon Museum, the centrepiece of Museum Island, an absolute crowd-puller and world-famous attraction since its opening, will reopen its doors in 2027 - meaning that two thirds of the museum's total area will be on display again, freshly renovated. the gigantic Pergamon Altar - which has not been on display for many years - has been restored and can once again be visited - and climbed - by everyone.

The ground-breaking ceremony took place in 2025, and construction is expected to take two years: from July 2027, a tall, 38-metre-wide open staircase in front of the Humboldt Forum, right on the waterfront in the heart of Berlin's historic centre, will invite visitors to sunbathe and relax.
