Works by Alban Berg and Johann Strauß
Viennese School meets Viennese humor: In May 1921, Arnold Schoenberg resorted to an unusual measure to boost the finances of his "Association for Private Musical Performances."
Together with his former students Alban Berg and Anton Webern, he staged his own arrangements of Johann Strauss's music as part of a program otherwise dedicated to the avant-garde.
Before Thomas Guggeis and the Boulez Ensemble present these lively arrangements to close the season, Berg's Chamber Concerto from 1925 will be performed – a work that was already heard at the opening of the Pierre Boulez Hall in 2017.
Alina Ibragimova and Cédric Tiberghien will perform as soloists.
