Berlin Freedom Week: Berlin celebrates freedom

Berlin invites you to celebrate freedom, democracy and human rights for a whole week. Around the 36th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the entire city will become a stage for courageous ideas and the development of joint initiatives. In addition to cultural events and workshops, the Berlin Freedom Conference on 10 November 2025 is the highlight of the Berlin Freedom Week.

Goosebumps and cheers, not just from Berlin football fans: the biggest and most important football league in the world, the US National Football League NFL, is coming to Berlin for three regular season games from 2025! The first game will be played in november - in the Olympic Stadium, of course. Exciting: The Indianapolis Colts will be competing, with the opposing team and match date to be announced in the spring. The German capital is looking forward to a world-class sporting highlight!

The bust of Nefertiti or Schliemann's Troy collection: The Museum Island Berlin, the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Berlin's historic centre, holds valuable treasures from 6.000 years of human history. This year, Museum Island will be celebrating a major anniversary: construction of the Altes Museum, the first of today's five world-famous major museums, began in July 1825. Events, exhibitions, concerts and cinema evenings are planned.

PETRI Berlin - that's the name of the new archaeological visitor centre in the heart of the capital. It is not only an exhibition venue, but also a workshop and workplace for Berlin's archaeologists. In the basement of the building, excavations and medieval burials provide an exciting insight into the beginnings of Berlin city history.

Reopening of Gendarmenmarkt

For two years, one of the most beautiful squares in the heart of Berlin was restored and made fit for the future. Now, barrier-free and with an impressive sustainability concept, it is once again accessible to millions of visitors. This year, the wonderful Christmas market WeihnachtsZauber am Gendarmenmarkt will be held there for the first time after renovation.

35 years of the East Side Gallery

At 1,316 metres, the art mile on the banks of the Spree is the longest section of the Wall still standing today. Immediately after the fall of the Wall in November 1989, it was painted by 118 artists from all over the world. The open-air gallery opened on 28 September 1990 and is now celebrating its birthday with a new documentation centre and various event

Festival of Lights in Concert

A new highlight joins the traditional Festival of Lights in Berlin, which is attended by millions of people: With Festival of Lights IN CONCERT, nine unique shows will present exciting productions over five evenings: 3D projections, synchronised live with ambient music by renowned musicians and DJs.
