Kino Central & Open Air Kino Mitte
Art and film at Haus Schwarzenberg
The Schwarzenberg House is a well-known hub for cultural events of all kinds. Amidst street art and opulent décor, you’ll find museums, the Eschschloraque art bar and the Central Cinema. Throughout the year, the cinema auditoriums and the open-air cinema in the courtyard screen arthouse films, high-quality blockbusters and themed film events.
Art-house cinema at Haus Schwarzenberg
The Kino Central sees itself as a home for sophisticated cinematic art. The programme features arthouse productions, film classics, documentaries and selected mainstream films. The programme is complemented by premieres, special events and a lovingly curated selection of children’s films. Most films are shown in their original language with German or English subtitles, which makes the cinema particularly popular with an international audience.
Open-air cinema with art and cocktails
During the summer months, the courtyard of Haus Schwarzenberg is transformed into the Open-Air-Kino Mitte. Set amongst old brick walls, murals and urban greenery, the cinema’s characteristically alternative programme is screened here – only this time under the Berlin night sky. Films begin at dusk, and the neighbouring art bar Eschschloraque provides cocktails and more. Perfect for anyone who, after the credits roll, likes to spend hours chatting about plot twists and cliffhangers over a cool drink.
