Old woollen jumpers are turned into new children’s clothes
At Jawoll Baby, discarded woollen jumpers are transformed into new garments for babies and children. The Berlin-based upcycling company reprocesses existing woollen textiles to create new clothing.
Jawoll Baby was born out of founder Janine’s idea to reuse existing woollen clothing. Since March 2021, she has been sewing new garments from old woollen jumpers, giving the materials a new lease of life.
Wool has a number of practical properties: it regulates heat, absorbs moisture without immediately feeling damp, and is relatively odour- and stain-resistant. This makes it well-suited to children’s clothing.
In the Jawoll Baby online shop, you’ll find timeless basics for babies and children, including jumpers, scarves and trousers. The garments are designed and produced in Berlin-Karlshorst. When it comes to cuts and colours, Jawoll Baby also strives for designs that are as gender-neutral as possible.
As well as its products, Jawoll Baby offers upcycling workshops. In small groups, participants create new garments from discarded woollen jumpers. Beginners are also welcome to take part. The patterns are prepared in advance and all necessary materials are provided. If you wish, you can bring your own woollen items.
In around three hours, you’ll create at least one finished garment, which you can then take home with you.
