Showing · Performance · Emerging Change Tanzfestival by Sointu Pere
“Inspired by social and club dance cultures, I reconnect with the ancestral lineages of these forms. I approach them as cultural spaces of soulful groove, communal care and embodied survival strategies. Through movement, I look forward to exploring various somatic states. I am interested in the question of how sensuality is experienced in the body: which rhythms and sounds invite it? How can slowness create agency? How can these inner changes facilitate emotional liberation?
The research also examines the politics of being seen. I ask how sensuality and the occupation of space can be reclaimed whilst simultaneously maintaining authorship over one’s own narrative – and how movement can become a space in which belonging and non-belonging are negotiated. How does intimacy change under the gaze of others? Can pleasure remain self-determined within a performative space?"
