Schirin Moaiyeri

The exhibition “Vorbeigehen” brings together the artist’s personal perspective. Drawing on her background in photography and her deep love of observing and discovering the immediate and seemingly unspectacular things that lie before us, the images originate from an analog snapshot camera or a cell phone—moments when the artist discovers something while out and about and quickly captures it.

The process of selecting colors and having to make new decisions again and again while painting forces the artist to look very closely once more—and that is the inspiration this exhibition aims to convey.

Often, paths serve only the purpose of getting from one place to another. But between two appointments, there may be brief moments of slowing down and observing; as one passes by these things, they have an effect that perhaps gives more energy than one might initially think.

Schirin Moaiyeri lived in the “Vibrant City” of Berlin for several years both during and after completing her degree in photography, and has been continually seeking new artistic avenues of expression ever since.

Even though everyday life can feel quite restrictive, she hones her creative eye by being open to discovering the little treasures “IN PASSING” wherever she goes.

After training in dance, studying “Visual Communication,” and completing a photography program at the Lette Verein, she now lives and works in Berlin as a photographer; alongside her photography, she has rediscovered painting. This is her second exhibition of her acrylic paintings.
