True Romance

It’s a billion-dollar business built on perfectly crafted emotional scripts: through endless messages, a genuine and beautiful relationship is sold—the damn best relationship you’ll ever have! And that comes at a price. Until your account is empty. Until everything you have is gone.

Up to 15 audience members per show experience the work of three characters in a scam center. The immersive performance takes place live in the office, between karaoke to Lana Del Rey’s “Video Games” and beer pong, and via cell phones that are handed out at the beginning.

Via an app developed specifically for the performance, parts of the plot are streamed directly to the audience members’ new devices through personal chats and videos.

Stefan Mießeler is a writer and director. He creates performances and theater works that blend spoken theater with immersive settings and trash aesthetics.
