A Group Exhibition at Projektraum Galerie M
The exhibition "tRaum" is dedicated to the artistic
exploration of the tension between standardized life realities and
inner imagination. The title of the exhibition plays consciously with
the double meaning of "Traum" (dream) as a wish image and
"Raum" (space) as a place of retreat, freedom, and
development.
exploration of the tension between standardized life realities and
inner imagination. The title of the exhibition plays consciously with
the double meaning of "Traum" (dream) as a wish image and
"Raum" (space) as a place of retreat, freedom, and
development.
In times of increasing regulation through educational systems, labor markets, and societal expectations, yearnings for alternatives emerge — for spaces for personal development, for utopias — for the "tRaum." The exhibition investigates how creative and fantastical works can arise in these very in-between spaces — where leisure, fantasy, and culture intersect.
The concept of physical space is also addressed: Space is not only a measurable quantity but also a subjective experience. Where reality and perception intertwine, the question arises: When is something real — and when is it a dream?
Artists from various disciplines (visual arts, installation, media art, performance, etc.) engage with themes such as inner places of retreat, utopian spaces, childhood fantasy, critique of standardization, self-empowerment through artistic creation, or dreams as countermodels to reality.
