Tiziano Cruz / Maque Pereyra
From this exploration – which is at once deeply intimate and deeply political – emerges a lecture-performance that awakens the body’s memory and the power of his Andean ancestors. A theatrical ritual that aims to transform pain into an act of healing and reconciliation with the world.
Maque Pereyra: Transformative Pleasure – Yoggaton
Yoggaton is an intersectional movement practice developed since 2016 by the Bolivian artist Maque Pereyra. Through a combination of yoga asanas, hip-hop dance and reggaeton music, she conceives of the body as a site of memory, creativity and embodied knowledge.
From a decolonial perspective, Yoggaton challenges binary notions of spirituality and sensuality, body and mind, pleasure and knowledge. Emerging from ten years of workshops, performances and artistic research – including *Solar Threshold*, *Culona de cerebro jugoso* and the research project *Perreando la migración* – Yoggaton is both a movement and an artistic practice. This staged experience, presented as part of the celebrations marking Yoggaton’s tenth anniversary at this year’s Plataforma Berlin, unfolds as a hybrid performance-workshop format that gradually transforms into a collective party.
Participants are invited on a journey that leads from reflection on embodiment to celebration, blurring the boundaries between learning, performance and the dance floor.
No prior experience of dance or yoga is required. Everyone is welcome. Please bring comfortable clothing and water.
