An interactive play about political participation for young audiences

What happens if we leave politics to others?

Politics is everywhere. On the telly, on our smartphones, at home, on the street and at school. A social media party brings politics straight into the theatre: with challenges, likes and quick facts, a social media team tries to win young people over to their party.

Armed with smartphones and ring lights, the needs and wishes of the classroom are broadcast to the world. But the party is disrupted when a breaking news story from the Bundestag goes live on the feed. What does it mean to take responsibility now? How do you speak out when speaking out becomes dangerous? And what can we change together?

In *Absprung!*, a seemingly harmless party is overtaken by an increasingly threatening reality shaped by power, opinion and political participation. Through music, drama and dance, the performance collective ‘Die Sprä:nger’, together with the audience, creates a piece that not only talks about democracy but also invites us to take action. Because democracy begins precisely where we get involved.

No maths. No waffle. Just democracy.
