Solo and Duo Works for Viola by Eötvös, Hindemith, Benjamin, and others
The fact that Tabea Zimmermann is one of today’s most outstanding violists and music educators is evident not least from the long list of her prominent former students—among whom is Antoine Tamestit.
Together, the two will present a program spanning the ages in the Pierre Boulez Hall, featuring solo and duo works from the Middle Ages to the present day.
The famous Passacaglia from Biber’s “Rosary Sonatas,” a highlight of the Baroque repertoire, will be performed, as will Bernd Alois Zimmermann’s viola sonata from 1955.
