Public tour in English

When the Mongol horsemen invaded Europe in 1241, they appeared to their victims as creatures from hell. Under Genghis Khan and his successors, they conquered the largest territorial empire in history. Through legislation, the securing of trade routes and the establishment of post stations, they created an order that set in motion an intensive exchange of goods and ideas between Asia, Persia and Europe.

Discover fascinating archaeological finds that bear witness to the superiority of the nomadic horsemen, to an early form of globalisation under the Mongol khans, and to the empires of the Turks and Uyghurs who ruled the steppe before them.
