On April 24, 2026, at 7 p.m., the Maspindzeli Ensemble from the western Georgian city of Samtredia will perform in Berlin. Founded in 2011, the vocal ensemble is passionately dedicated to traditional Georgian polyphony.
In addition to regular performances at St. David Agmashenebeli Cathedral in Samtredia, Maspindzeli can be heard at festivals both in Georgia and abroad. Their trademark: powerfully sung, masterfully interwoven church hymns and authentic folk songs from the diverse regions of Georgia.
The polyphonic singing traditions of Georgia stretch back thousands of years and have developed into a unique, multifaceted art form. Love songs and dance songs, songs for feasts and work, praises of nature, and spiritual hymns—all these belong to this rich musical heritage.
For its exceptional cultural significance, Georgian choral music was recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage in 2007. Look forward to a moving concert evening full of powerful sound and tradition.
