Sharon Eyal was born in Jerusalem. She danced in Batsheva Dance Company from 1990 to 2008 and began choreographing as part of the company's Batsheva Dancers Create project.
From 2003 to 2004, Eyal was Batsheva's associate artistic director, and from 2005 to 2012, she was the company's resident choreographer.
In 2009, Eyal began creating pieces for other dance companies around the world: Killer Pig (2009) and Corps de Walk (2011) for Carte Blanche Dance of Norway; Too Beaucoup (2011) for Hubbard Street Dance Chicago; Plafona (2012) for Tanzcompagnie Oldenburg, Germany.
In 2013, Eyal founded the project L-E-V with her longtime collaborator Gai Behar.
L-E-V's repertoire consists of 7 creations.
Their latest piece Chapter 3: The Brutal Journey of the Heart, premiered in September 2019 at the RuhrTriennale in Bochum, Germany.
For the third time, L-E-V's creation will be co-produced with two of the world's leading dance houses: Sadler's Wells - London and Julidans - Amsterdam. For this creation, the co-producers have also joined forces: Ruhrtriennale, Christian Dior Couture, Montpellier Danse, Torinodanza Festival, Carolina Performing Arts, Bold Tendencies, Young Turks.
