In her performance She-Pigeon, Selin Davasse assumes the role of a bothersome female pigeon, inviting the audience to reflect on the politics of dirt, disgust, and exclusion.

“She is dirty. She is grimy. She is the nature of the city. Neglected and unloved, she is always hungry. Today she may occupy the lowest rung of the pecking order, but once she was the equal of a white dove. For humans, being white is of great importance, and it was humans who domesticated her. She is a wild thing. She thrives. People hate her because she doesn’t die.

Libidinal, dripping literature in vivid and vulgar, vulva-shaped verses rains down like pigeon droppings. After this performance, you might feel a little dirty. A pigeon could still love you, no matter how dirty you are. Do you think you could love her too?” — Selin Davasse
