Sawako Ogo – autumn chaos

Following ‘spring disaster’, a triple bill featuring Berlin-based artists in March 2026, ‘autumn chaos’ presents four solo dance pieces choreographed by the performers themselves.

Given the challenging funding landscape for freelance artists in Berlin, Germany and beyond, self-choreographed solo works have become common practice.

However, the process can be lonely and challenging when producing solo works due to a lack of support or limited resources.

autumn chaos was created as a support system for such working methods.

Five dancers and choreographers have come together to offer one another advice and practical support throughout the individual creative process of developing solo works.

‘autumn chaos’ and ‘spring disaster’ encourage Berlin’s audience to engage with the visions of local and committed freelance artists and to observe how our expression takes shape.

On 21 October, the works will be presented at a relatively early stage of development. Next spring, we hope to be able to present the further developed versions of the works as part of the ‘spring disaster’ showcase, following further rehearsals and a longer preparation period.

disasterchaotic simply strives to create spaces in which truly beautiful works are presented to the public, as well as opportunities for the audience to actively engage with the local freelance dance scene.
