To mark the 100th anniversary of its publication, the SALON FATALE brings together literature, music, performance and dance in an artistic tribute. The event honours Hermione von Preuschen not only as a visual artist, but also as a poet and feminist who explored themes such as female self-determination and sexuality.
The programme features a coloratura singing performance by the Kraków-based soprano Jadwiga Kirschanek, architectural soundscapes by Maciek Strojny and a punk opera by Aneta Panek. The Berlin-based poet Hartmut Fischer will present a ‘poetry flash’, whilst Akana Onishi will add a further performative highlight with her ‘kimono fairy’ dance.
The evening will be accompanied by a fictional literary award ceremony: SALON FATALE will present the ‘first new honourable German Literature Prize 2026’ to mark the 100th anniversary of *Der Roman meines Lebens*. The event draws on historical figures and literary references, combining them with a contemporary stage production.
The backdrop to the event is the current exhibition ‘Hermione von Preuschen – Mors Imperator’ at the Alte Nationalgalerie, which runs until 15 November 2026. In its own unique way, SALON FATALE thus explores the work and reception of this multifaceted artist.
